Sony's bold and trendy Android SmartWatch is a must-have for gadget junkies.

The 36mm x 36mm touchscreen watch comes with both a black and white strap, and you can also clip the face onto anything else you want - like a handbag strap, for example.

It connects to any Android smartphone via Bluetooth and there are a range of applications and widgets available to keep you connected, even if your phone is out of sight. This makes it the perfect gadget for staying up-to-date very discreetly.

Once you've paired your phone to the Sony SmartWatch using Sony's LiveWare Manager or Smart Connect app, you can download a range of applications via the Google Play Store and load them onto the watch. These include Facebook, email and Twitter, weather widgets, calendar alerts, call handling and fitness apps.

All the settings for the SmartWatch are controlled on your phone, including changing the face of the watch and sorting applications.

It is worth noting that the SmartWatch has to be connected to your phone via Bluetooth at all times to function, meaning you can't venture further than about 10m from your smartphone. If your phone isn't connected to the internet, you won't get updates for weather, Twitter and other online apps.

The watch retails for around R1 400.
