Caring for Girls is a Vodacom priority

Vodacom has donated over R48 000 to the Caring for Girls Cause

Every year girls from disadvantaged backgrounds miss up to 50 days of school due to not having access to sanitary pads. In a bid to solve this issue, on 23 February 2017, Vodacom Foundation handed over R48 000 at Masibambane College in Orange Farm.

This was a follow-up to Vodacom’s partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation whereby the Caring for Girls 94.7 Mountain Bike Challenge was launched late last year in Johannesburg. Fifty Vodacom employees rode for a good cause in order to collect sanitary pads for underprivileged girls which would lead to them not missing school.

Vodacom Foundation also opened an SMS donation line to all customers to help with raising funds for the cause. Members of the public also dropped off sanitary pads at Vodacom offices and the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

Vodacom would like to thank everyone who contributed to this great initiative.
