Vodacom Business wins Fortinet MSSP partner of the Year for the second year running

Vodacom business earned their cybersecurity stripes winning South African Fortinet Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) partner of the Year for the second consecutive year.

The Fortinet Partner of the Year Awards are held annually to recognise exceptional cybersecurity sales and achievements in customer experience, collaboration, and marketing.

“We are honoured to receive this award once again,” says Garith Peck, executive head of Cloud security at Vodacom Business. “Since last year’s awards we have been carefully managing our technical certifications to ensure they are kept current and that we are able to provide our customers with the best support possible. Having the entire teams work recognised at this level is a privilege that we hope to replicate for the foreseeable future.”

The awards are based on several criteria including, annual growth, new competitive clients wins, client retention, and skills development. This accolade demonstrates why businesses across the country should ‘turn to us’ as a reliable partner, with their growth in the cybersecurity space bringing them to the top in the midst of some stiff competition including some of their biggest competitors in both the telco and integration space.

“The importance of cybersecurity at the moment cannot be understated,” says Peck. “In the last three years we have seen a massive spike in cybercrime. As businesses continue to digitalise, increasing their digital attack surface, so too are cybercriminals advancing, developing better, more effective malicious software. For Vodacom Business, partnering with a top cybersecurity provider like Fortinet allows us to improve our own client experience, helping those with limited cybersecurity knowledge or capacity to turn their challenges into opportunities.”

Cybersecurity is a hot topic across the globe now, with the skills shortage causing major concern for many business owners and IT teams. According to a recent report compiled by Fortinet, in 2023 40% of South African businesses are struggling to hire and retain cybersecurity talent. 64% feel that the current shortage, worsened by the ongoing tech brain drain, is creating additional cyber risk for South African companies. The same report showed that in the last 12 months alone 39% of South African organisations experienced a cybersecurity breach, costing upwards of US$1 million.

“Vodacom Business is calling on organisations of all sizes to turn to us. Digitalising your business is a daunting enough process which requires navigating numerous obstacles to achieve your business goals. We aim to help turn these challenges into opportunities helping you grow with confidence. Receiving recognition form our suppliers only makes us more determined to help South African organisations go further together,” concluded Peck.
