Apply to work on South Africa’s first payments super-app

Vodacom Financial Services in groundbreaking partnership with Alipay is bringing inclusive mobile solutions to South Africa.

Vodacom Financial Services has announced a ground-breaking technology partnership with Alipay, the world’s leading digital daily lifestyle services platform, to bring inclusive mobile solutions to South African consumers and merchants, especially small businesses, through innovative digital technologies.

Thanks to the technology from Alipay, Vodacom Financial Services is working round the clock to bring you a lifestyle enhancing payments app that is expected to reshape the world of transacting as we know it.

Benefits of the app

The app will make it easier than ever for you to manage your entire life and business through your smartphone. Whether it’s streaming music during your morning run, helping you manage payments, booking an e-hailing taxi service, ordering takeaways, keeping track of business costs and suppliers – or even confirming that much-needed holiday (after lockdown, of course), this technology will make it all possible.

Consumers and merchants seamlessly connected

For consumers, the platform will offer you a user-friendly, end-to-end experience that will improve transaction efficiency and introduce you to easy-to-use money management tools. Not only will you have the ability to easily and affordably transact, you’ll also be able to track your monthly spend with your favourite retailer, restaurant or people.

Merchants on the other hand are also set to reap significant benefits from the development of this ground-breaking technology. The mobile payment platform will potentially help previously underserviced SMMEs access to the best financial services solutions for their customers and suppliers. Partnering with third parties also offers full support for business functions such as advertising and real-time marketing solutions.

Alipay has long history of success in developing countries across the globe. These include but are not limited to India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. In every country, the adoption of the technology was outstanding. To date, more than 1.2 billion consumers have used the platform.

Do you have what it takes to build this super-app?

We are looking for people who are willing to push the envelope, think creatively and most importantly, use the technology to develop customer-centric digital financial services solutions. We need the best skills and talent in the country.

If you believe that you have the technical and user experience design skills to work on the development of this app, then click here to find out more about the opportunities on offer.
