What if you could leverage many of the capabilities Amazon Web Service (AWS) cloud services have to offer locally, without the expense of specialized, dedicated in-house resources? Simplify different managing architectures, address sovereignty and security risks, and eliminate writing code for different stacks. Now you can by adding AWS Outposts to your IT stack.
While customers are increasingly looking to leverage cloud technologies for faster innovation, some workloads need to remain on-premises where data residency is paramount or where every millisecond counts. Vodacom Business customers across various industries such as financial services, mining, manufacturing, retail, logistics, and the public sector have been using Intel-powered AWS Outposts for their on-premises workloads.
AWS Outpost is a new service from Amazon that allows you to create a virtual server on AWS that you can control and manage yourself. Outpost gives you the ability to create your own AWS services without having to use an existing AWS account.
AWS Outposts is a fully managed service that extends AWS infrastructure, services, APIs, and tools to customer premises. By providing local access to AWS-managed infrastructure, AWS Outposts enables customers to build and run applications on premises using the same programming interfaces as in AWS Regions, while using local compute and storage resources for lower latency and local data processing needs.
An Outpost is a pool of AWS compute and storage capacity deployed at a customer site while AWS operates, monitors, and manages this capacity as part of an AWS Region. You can create subnets on your Outpost and specify them when you create AWS resources such as EC2 instances, EBS volumes, ECS clusters, and RDS instances. Instances in Outpost subnets communicate with other instances in the AWS Region using private IP addresses, all within the same VPC.
Data fuels innovation and progress. Constrained, ill-suited or wasteful data storage will inhibit growth and opportunities. Too few organisations don't appreciate the link between their ability to prosper and their data storage strategies. Vodacom Business' project with AWS demonstrates this advantage. We have realised lower costs, faster data storage and recovery, and better use of our professionals' time and skills. The impact is evident on our bottom line and how it reinvigorated our teams' focus on cloud adoption and digital innovation.
Vodacom Business customers of any size and sector can expect the best from our storage solutions. Collaborate with Vodacom Business and AWS to access the best balance of services across a portfolio of storage types and management services that meet your performance, cost, business continuity, governance, and regulatory needs.
