How the Innovator Trust is empowering ICT

Enterprise creation and development is key to the ICT sector. That's why Vodacom established the Innovator Trust in 2014. Here are five black-owned, female-led SMMEs that are benefiting from the Trust.

Enterprise creation and development is key to the ICT sector. As a result, in 2014, Vodacom established the Innovator Trust, which aids in the successful development of small black-owned businesses in ICT. Vodacom invested R750 million in the establishment of the Innovator Trust to help in providing a tailored development programme for selected, established small businesses in the sector. Through targeted training, mentorship, networking and infrastructure support, the Innovator Trust is helping to create black ICT leaders of the future. From supporting just 18 SMMEs in its first year, the Trust has, to date, incubated and impacted over 100 SMMEs! Of these businesses 40% are women-owned, and the target is to increase female representation to 50% by the end of this financial year. The beneficiaries of this programme are situated across six provinces.
