A common mistake that people make is connecting to the internet without first buying data bundles. When you use your airtime to go online, you pay out-of-bundle rates, which are much higher than in-bundle rates.
Data bundles give you a set amount of data for a fixed price – meaning you can save money and know exactly how much you are spending.
As a prepaid customer, you can convert your existing airtime balance to data bundles in a number of ways. Here’s how:
Convert airtime to data bundles using the VodaPay app
Download the VodaPay app. Once you’ve download the app and logged in, go to Buy: Find the My Vodacom section on the home screen and tap the Buy or Buy data bundles button. Select the Number: Choose the phone number you want to buy the data for. Choose Data: Select Data and pick the specific data bundle you want. Pay with Airtime: On the payment screen, choose Airtime as your payment method to deduct the cost directly from your airtime balance.
Convert airtime to data bundles using USSD
Dial *135# on your phone and follow the menu prompts to buy bundles.
Please note: If you’re on prepaid, the amount will be deducted from your airtime. If you’re a contract customer, the amount will be added to your monthly bill.
