How Vodacom Is Supporting Slipper Day and Five Ways You Can Too

Slipper Day is coming up, join Vodacom in helping Reach For A Dream raise funds for their noble endeavors

Slipper Day is an annual initiative run by the NGO Reach for a Dream (RFAD). On this day South Africans can purchase a Slipper Day Sticker, which gives them a free pass to wear their slippers in the office.

Vodacom supports Reach for a Dream and the Slipper Day initiative annually. This includes raising awareness for the day through content and social media and raising funds through employee donations, and volunteering in RFAD activities. The Vodacom Foundation also donates 50 cents for every R1 donated by staff through salary deduction.

Reach for a Dream focuses on making the dreams of children fighting life-threatening illnesses come true and making a difference in their lives. Slipper Day is just around the corner (5 May 2023), but there are more ways that you can get involved, here are five of them.

Buy A Slipper Day Sticker

Slipper Day is one of Reach for a Dream’s biggest fundraisers, and for just R20, you can get a sticker that allows you to wear your slipper to work, and as an added bonus, you also get a free Famous Wimpy coffee when you go to any Wimpy and produce our Slipper Day sticker on the day.

Donate Money Directly

Slipper Day only comes around once a year, and while it brings in substantial funding, RFAD requires constant funds to keep the dreams rolling in. You can donate to Reach for a Dream either once off or monthly and help them to continue their good work.

Volunteer Your Time

Giving money is one thing, but time is a much more precious commodity, especially for a child fighting a life-threatening illness. You can volunteer for Reach for a Dream and assist with dream handovers. This includes handing over gift bags and assisting with the running of events. Your assistance saves RFAD money, leaving more for those dreams they’re bringing to life.

Become A Dream Club Member

This is like donating but with added value. Join The Dream Club for as little as *R100 a month and you not only provide much-needed funds to RFAD, but also receive a Supporter T-Shirt, and certificate of service twice a year. You also get invited to donor appreciation events and receive a Section 28 tax certificate for your donations.

*Your donations can between R100 and R1 000.

 Refer Another Child

There are many more children in South Africa fighting life-threatening illnesses who could use some joy in their life. If you know one, refer them to Reach for a Dream. Ensure that you know which hospital they attend and who their doctor is. Make sure that you download the list of illnesses that qualify a child for RFAD assistance.

Don’t forget Slipper Day on 5 May 2023. Remember, R20 gets you a Slipper Day sticker which gives you permission to wear your slipper in the office and gets you a free Wimpy coffee.
