Folding smartphones are well into multiple generations now, which means the products we’re seeing have come a long way.
Huawei recently unveiled its Mate Xs 2 and we take a hands on look at it.
The Mate Xs 2 takes a unique approach from any foldable on the market; its single, outward-folding 7.8-inch display results in the display being wrapped around the phone when closed. The design allows it to use one screen, unlike the Fold 4. It’s an OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 424 ppi.
The Mate Xs 2 features what Huawei calls a “falcon wing hinge” that folds flat. When you open the display and look at it on the side, no physical creases are visible. It’s stronger and more durable than its predecessor, with its higher drop, crush, and impact resistance upgrades.
The Mate Xs 2 features a 50MP true-chroma camera, 13MP ultra-wide and 8MP telephoto lens. It has macro, light painting and audio zoom features. Slow-mo goes up to 960fps.
The Mate Xs 2 is powered by 512GB big storage and a 4600mAh battery, and supports 66W HUAWEI SuperCharge. And it comes with a 66W fast-charging plug in the box.
The Huawei Mate Xs 2 is available for purchase from Vodacom online.
