Is iPhone the smart business choice?

The release of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus certainly caused a buzz, and many are waiting eagerly to upgrade. Should you join them? Here are 7 reasons why you should.

From the first iPhone in 2007, Apple has always caused a stir with their phone launches, and the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus launch proved no different. Here’s why the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are both solid business choices.

More storage

The new A10 fusion chip means a faster phone that’s able to juggle all the apps you throw at it. It also supports more storage, meaning you can now get a 256GB option - 128GB was the max for the iPhone 6s. The 7 and 7 Plus both come in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB models.

See the screen

Whether you choose the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus or the 4.7-inch iPhone 7, you’ll benefit from a best-ever Retina HD display with wide colour and new, improved touchscreen technology.

Security

One of the advantages of Apple has always been its advanced security systems – as they control the App Store, all the apps in it, and their own operating system, they are able to keep a close eye on threats.

10 out of 10 for iOS

The new operating system, iOS 10, has a lot to offer business users, especially those who already have an iPad, iMac or Apple Watch.

For instance, if you’re checking a webpage on your Mac computer, the link will appear on your iPhone or iPad – so you can check back in that all-important meeting.

There are also some great new features for keeping your device organised – the Photos app will recognise people, places and activities – so if you’re looking for pics of your construction site, for example, type ‘crane’ or the area, and it should find them.

Another timesaver is that you can assign defaults to each contact for which services they prefer to use, if one client likes to SMS, another prefers to WhatsApp, your phone will take you there automatically.

It knows what you want

If someone asks you for an email address, or where you are, QuickType will jump in and automatically suggest options – a map to your location, or a saved email address from your contacts, for example. The Calendar app also keeps tabs on your messaging, so if you say ‘Today I’m free at …’, it will tell you when you really are free.

They’re survivors

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus take a big step in terms of durability – they’re water and dust resistant. You can’t take it scuba diving on holiday, but you can fish it out of the bath without having to rush off for a bowl of rice.

You can talk to it

The Siri function can be useful when your hands are full. With the new iOS, Siri is incorporated into more apps, and they promise it’s growing all the time.

Long-lasting battery

The A10 chip doesn’t only allow for more storage – it’s also so much more efficient that these devices have the longest battery life ever in an iPhone, while still running at twice the speed of an iPhone 6. Apple promises up to two more hours’ use on iPhone 7 and one more on the iPhone 7 Plus over the previous generation.
