The internet has proven to be a valuable outlet for the creativity of people across the globe, allowing them to share their creations with the world – inviting feedback (both positive and negative).
While not everything on the World Wide Web is worth its upload time, dig a little deeper and you can unearth some of the most creative, inspiring and mind-blowing videos around. With that in mind, here's a small selection of some of the most creative and informative videos released online this year.
What happens when you mix the biggest TV show in the world with the one of the most cerebral of the last few years? The answer is this stunning reworking of the Game of Thrones opening credits in the style of True Detective. While no one would argue that Game of Thrones has one of the most memorable series of openings, with its intricate detailing of the main houses throughout Westeros, remixing it in the style of True Detective gives us a far moodier, more evocative opening that fits surprisingly well with the high fantasy aspect of the show.
The original Star Wars (or 'A New Hope', to be more accurate) blew everyone away when it came out in 1977, with some of the most advanced model work and special effects ever to be seen on screen. And while much of the effects have held up surprisingly well over the last 40 years, there's no denying that some of the stuntwork looks a little dated compared to the more acrobatic fight scenes of the recent films. This video aims to fix that, with a 'reimagining' of the epic showdown between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Through a clever mix of stunt doubles, CGI (computer generated imagery) and old footage, the original clash between former master and apprentice has been given furious and kinetic energy, where every swing of the lightsaber feels lethal and dangerous. You won't ever see the original scene in the same light again.

MKBHD (Marques Brownlee) has long been considered the best smartphone and tech reviewer on YouTube, and his most recent video on the recently released Huawei P30 Pro is a perfect showcase as to why. Combining his in-depth knowledge of smartphones tech, with some of the best scene setting and lighting on YouTube, his videos serve as the 'go-to' guide for anyone wanting to set themselves up as full-time YouTube personality. The phone itself is not bad either – as MKBHD puts it: 'It's the best phone not sold in the US.'
The most topical video on the list – who doesn't love news of a birth? Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, introduced the world to their baby son for the first time last Wednesday and revealed his full name as well: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. It's also fun to see the reaction from people around the world, whether they're happy, emotional or just a little indifferent.
One of the biggest sporting upsets came this week with Liverpool's incredible Champions League triumph against Barcelona. Klopp's team fearlessly went in pursuit of the impossible, knowing one strike from the Catalan giants would have all but ended their Champions League dream. But their never-say-die attitude was rewarded as the La Liga champions were caught hot on their heels by a raucous atmosphere and a spirited team. After the match, Jurgen Klopp, Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and the Liverpool squad celebrated with their fans by singing their unofficial anthem, 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.
