Why Nolly Nodada quit her job to become a VodaPay entrepreneur

It’s never easy to leave your career in financial services to pursue your entrepreneurship dreams, especially as a woman, at the age of 42.

When Nolly Nodada discovered an opportunity to follow her dreams of starting her own business, employ people from her community and help small businesses grow, it made her decision to follow her dreams much easier.

“I believe in supporting local businesses especially within the food sector but in some cases when I am on the road, with no cash, I have had to choose food outlets that can process card payments. It’s quite unfortunate to see vendors lose out on business just because they don’t have a card machine to process transactions,” says Nodada.

Since making the bold move of leaving a paying job to plunge into entrepreneurship, Nodada has built a thriving business selling VodaPay card machines to small vendors to ensure they don’t lose customers to larger outlets that can already process card payments.

She has been so successful in selling the devices in the Gauteng area that she is looking to expand her services to the entire country.

Sinawe – More than a card machine but a platform to create employment and grow small businesses

In a country where the national unemployment rate is currently sitting at 34.5%, this business opportunity has made it possible for Nodada to employ 16 people. This number comprises of 99% black women as Nolly believes in creating employment for young females. “Females are the backbone of our country. They are nurtures and providers and so much more, that is why I am passionate about creating opportunities for them.” Her team which is mostly responsible for sales and distributing the VodaPay card machines to make sure that they are easily accessible to vendors.

Nodada also uses the VodaPay Kwika to accept payments in her business. “The Kwika has taken my business to the next level. Its allowed me freedom to accept cashless payments and keeps my money safe and secure.”

Although Nolly had to overcome a myriad of challenges to get her business off the ground, she is glad that she took the leap of faith and started. “With hard work, determination and the support of VodaPay, I am able to make a living while giving people in my immediate surroundings a chance to earn a living, concludes Nolly.
