How to succeed at school in 2017.
We're gearing up for the new school year. If you're a parent, you're probably half-proud, half-devastated that your child is moving up yet another grade. And if you're a student yourself, you're probably sad that the holidays are over, but looking forward to getting one step closer to matriculating - and to learning new skills, making new friends, and moving up in the school hierarchy.
At Vodacom, we believe that education is the key to any young person's success. We're so passionate about empowering young people to get the most of their education that we have created a special learning platform for all school children from grades 4 to Matric.
It's called Vodacom e-School. It provides you with video lessons on subjects you'll cover in your school year, and then allows you to test your knowledge using homework questions and fun quizzes. This way, you get extra help with anything you're struggling with, or extra practice in the skills you've already got waxed.
It won't do your homework for you - but it will make it easier for you to do it for yourself. It's like having your own personal tutor in your pocket - or on your desk.
Here are nine reasons why you should sign up for Vodacom e-School for yourself or your school-going kids right now ... because it's never too early to start the year off right.
There are no subscription costs for Vodacom e-School. Registration is totally free.
If you're a Vodacom customer - whether on Contract, Pre-Paid, uChoose or Top Up - you won't use any data when you access the portal from your device with a Vodacom SIM. So not only do you not pay to use it, you won't even burn into your data bundle.
All the lessons, notes and example questions you'll find on the e-School portal are CAPS-aligned, which means they will be very similar, if not identical, to the lessons you'll get in your IRL classroom. And they're all prepared by expert teachers, just like the ones in your IRL classroom.
We all know that practice makes perfect. Especially when it comes to Maths. And the Sciences (from Life to Natural to Economic Management to Social), Accounting, Maths Lit, Afrikaans and English First Additional Language. These are all subjects that you can't memorise for - 'parrot learning' won't get you very far. To make sure you get the marks you're hoping for, you need to practice the kinds of problems and questions you're expecting in your tests and exams, and the e-School portal will give you plenty of these.
You can access e-School from your laptop when you're at home, your tablet when you're at a friend's, and your mobile phone when you're waiting for your lift after school.
The portal tracks the way you navigate and the kinds of problems you solve, and uses this data to present you with new questions that will be most useful for you. Once you've used it a few times, you'll see that it's figuring out the kinds of things you need most help with, and you'll find it easier and easier to find your way around.
Recap your most challenging modules with the video lessons, and earn badges and certificates as you progress. Studying as a game? Yes, please!
There are also cool quizzes at the end of every video lesson so you can find out what you still need to work on.
When you register, you create your own profile, upload a pic, and choose your subjects. You'll then get daily lessons in these subjects delivered to your menu, which you can access from anywhere.
You can obviously also study at your own pace - while watching the video lessons, you can pause and rewind at any time. Plus, you can evaluate your progress easily across each of your subjects.
Basically, e-School is all about you, and specific to the way you study, because your academic needs are unique. It's not a one-size-fits-all solution.
Either go to this link to register, or dial *120*1334 from your phone. You'll get an SMS with a link that will take you to the e-School registration page.
