CES Rundown: Asus, LG, Samsung And Lenovo Reveal Their Top Gadgets For 2023

These are the top tech announcements from the CES 2023 convention in Las Vegas.

CES, the world’s largest tech expo, took place over 5-8 January – returning to full capacity for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic hit. True to form, it featured a wide range of technologies in home entertainment, robotics, wearables, laptops, the smart home, the metaverse, gaming, and loads more.

So, for all fans of cutting-edge tech, here’s our pick of the coolest gadgets from the 2023 expo:

Game and watch in 3D – Asus Spatial Vision

Asus unveiled Spatial Vision 3D tech that allows users to view 3D content without wearing 3D glasses. Two laptops coming this year will support it: the ProArt Studiobook 16 3D and the Vivobook Pro 16 3D. Both have 120Hz refresh rates with OLED panels finished off with a lenticular lens layer that tracks eye movements to render 3D images for each eye individually. Asus claims a response time of 0.2 milliseconds. The 3D effect works for games, movies and content that supports 3D.

Ready for action VR tech – HTC Vive XR Elite

HTC unveiled the Vive XR Elite virtual reality headset. It’s light, powerful, and convertible, which lets you enjoy all standalone games or PC VR. It has a 110° field of view, 90Hz refresh rate, a 3840x1920 combined resolution and offers up to two hours of continuous play. Vive XR Elite will have more than 100 VR apps at launch but HTC will build a platform for mobile VR games based on the Meta Quest Store.

Almost no wires required – LG Wireless OLED M TV

LG solves the clutter problem by unveiling a 97-inch Signature OLED M TV with Zero Connect technology. Instead of using cables, it transmits audio and video signals through a transmitter box. The Zero Connect box, which is where all devices get connected (and all wires go), works from about 10m away and wirelessly transmits up to 4K 120Hz. It has three HDMI 2.1 ports and supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision.

Two screens, countless possibilities – Lenovo Yoga Book 9i

Lenovo’s new Yoga Book 9i is a dual-screen laptop that lets you multi-task from anywhere. The second screen replaces a keyboard, so it opens with screens at the top and bottom. If you prefer, you can connect a wireless keyboard to it and once you prop it up with its folding case, you can have both 13.3-inch high-resolution displays side by side. It’s aimed at creators or multi-taskers looking for new ways to work, learn or create using its unique capabilities.

The smartest smart hub – Samsung SmartThings Station

Samsung unveiled a nifty 2-in-1 gadget called the SmartThings Station that’s a hub for your connected devices, plus doubles up as a wireless charger. It makes converting to a smart home easier and supports Google Assistant voice commands. A smart button lets you program three home routines, such as changing lights or controlling devices before you go to bed and when you wake up. It also keeps track of anything you attached a Smart Tag to. Its understated design supports a 15W wireless charging pad for your smartphone.
