How to increase your social media following

Social media is a great way to connect with friends, promote your business, and interact with people who share your interests. However, if you're struggling to get followers on your social media platform of choice, here are a few tips that you can follow…

Post regularly

The first thing you should do to increase your social media following is to start posting content regularly. This doesn't mean you have to update your status or timeline every few minutes, but you should definitely post on a regular basis at least a few times a week, depending on the platform.

Successful Twitter accounts usually post a few times a day, Instagram accounts benefit from t least one daily post, and Facebook pages should post at least every few days depending on your audience. Accounts that only post once in a blue moon or which go inactive for long periods of time are much less likely to have a significant following.

Use the right hashtags

On platforms such as Twitter and Instagram, the right hashtag can make sure that you reach the right audience. On Twitter you want to use your hashtags sparingly, since too many hashtags may affect the reach of your tweet. However, on Instagram, you can share quite a few more hashtags with each post.

Make sure to use hashtags that are relevant to your desired audience. For example, if you are posting travel pictures, make sure to use hashtags such as #travelpics and #travelphotography. There are also popular hashtags such as #photooftheday that you can use to extend your reach.

However, make sure that the hashtags you use are actually relevant to your post since people don't want to see spammy, irrelevant posts that are incorrectly labeled just to attract more views.

Share interesting and useful content

When it comes to what you actually share on social media, make sure that it is interesting and useful content. Not every post has to be a thoughtful and enlightening thread, but you're also not going to get much of the following if you post things that are mundane and uninteresting. This doesn't mean you have to create all of this content yourself. For example, you can share humorous pictures, interesting news stories and other content that people may find interesting while giving your own opinion on it or reaction to it.

Engage with others

Another way to increase your social media following is to make sure to engage with others on the platform. This includes following other accounts and commenting on their posts.  People are more likely to look at your account if you comment on their posts, especially on platforms like Twitter. However, make sure that you don't spam people with comments about following your page or checking out your own posts since this will just alienate them.

Don't trust apps and services that promise to increase followers

Lastly, when it comes to increasing your social media following, don't trust apps and services that claim that they'll increase your following quickly. In cases where these aren't just scams to gain access to your account, these services just give you fake followers who are not real people. This can land you in trouble with the platform that you're using. if you're using the account for business purposes, it can attract even more problems for you. Furthermore, social media platforms routinely delete fake not accounts, so you might just end up losing a huge chunk of your following every time this is done.
