Sony's phabulous new Xperia Z Ultra

It's a cross between a phone and a tablet (phablet) and Sony's muscling in on this popular giant smartphone format.

Sony's popular Xperia Z series of smartphones has just received a supersized model – the Ultra.

The giant phone with a 6.4-inch full HD screen goes head-to-head with Samsung's Galaxy Note II. It packs the superfast quad-core Snapdragon processor and includes LTE capability.

Despite its size, the device weighs just 212 grams and is a slim 6.5mm thick (or thin). There is 16GB of storage built-in, but a microSD slot means you can add an extra 64GB.

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is likely to be available before Octob
