How Vodacom WhatsApp, YouTube, and Facebook Social Bundles work, and how they help you save.
Let’s say you use your smartphone mostly for social media and messaging. Maybe you use WhatsApp a lot, chatting with your colleagues or classmates while keeping in touch with the family back home. Now let’s say your general data bundle is running low, but you need data to keep your WhatsApp (or Facebook, TikTok, or YouTube) ticking over. Before you buy a full data bundle, consider a more affordable option: a Social Bundle.
Social Bundles are a budget-friendly alternative, helping you to stay connected to your social platform of choice (sending and receiving messages, sharing documents and voice notes, staying active in group chats…), all while avoiding out-of-bundle charges.
Social Bundles are ideal for people who primarily use their phones for social media and messaging, because they isolate your data usage to specific platforms. These bundles give you app-specific data for platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube – and they’re available to prepaid, hybrid, and postpaid customers via USSD (135#) or through the VodaPay app.
Let’s take a closer look at what you get with a Social Bundle, what you don’t get, and why it could be the right option for you.
It’s important to note that Social Bundles can be used on all your devices. They’re compatible with smartphones, tablets, and laptops.

For Facebook and YouTube, Vodacom offers Social Bundle allocations for:
• 1 Day (100MB)
• 3 Days (250MB)
• 7 Day (500MB)
• 30 Day (1GB)
Remember, this data can only be used for Facebook or YouTube specifically.
For WhatsApp, our Social Bundle allocations are:
• 1 Day (50MB)
• 1 Day (250MB)
• 3 Days (100MB)
• 7 Days (250MB)
• 30 Days (1GB)
Again, note that this data can only be used for WhatsApp – and, like with the other bundles, it only spends data that’s used through that specific app via the Vodacom network.
If you find and use a WiFi spot, you won’t lose your Social Bundle data.
The 1-day bundle is valid until midnight on the day of purchase. To avoid leftover data (and paying for data you don’t use), try buying the bundle in the morning rather than later in the day.
The 3-day, 7-day, and 30-day bundles are all valid from the activation date. To extend their validity, simply buy another bundle of the same size before the current one expires.
There are some limitations on what you can use the data for. Social Bundles only cover standard app usage – so you can’t use the data for voice or video calling on WhatsApp or Facebook. Recorded voice notes and sharing of media via WhatsApp are included, though.

During Youth Month (June 2025), Vodacom launched a new Social Bundle for customers on the NXT LVL programme. It’s called the Super Content Bundle, and it’s perfect for content creators. It gives you 5GB of TikTok data, 5GB of All Access data, 5GB of YouTube data, plus 10GB of Night Owl data – all valid for 7 days, for just R69. It’s exclusive to NXT LVL customers aged 18 to 25.
Whichever option you go for, Vodacom’s Social Bundles are super easy to access. If you’re a prepaid, hybrid, or postpaid customer, simply dial *135# on your phone and follow the prompts, or use the VodaPay app (Android or iOS). NXT LVL customers can dial *128# for the Super Content Bundle.
