Exercising in the morning is an all-day energy booster, mood enhancer, and helps you sleep better – even as little as 30 minutes a day has been shown to be effective. You don’t have to be an elite athlete, and there are plenty of mobile apps available to help you create a workout tailored to your needs and level. Using a smartwatch to monitor your activity and sleeping patterns is a great motivator, as it lets you see evidence of your progress.
You are what you eat, and your diet affects your general mood and energy levels. Make sure you’re eating a balanced diet that includes plenty of fruit and veg, as well as whole grains, lean meats, fish, nuts, and legumes, and olive oil, among others. Also cut down on sugar, salt, and processed foods, limit your fat intake, and remember to go easy on the alcohol – particularly over the season!
