Vodacom Home Internet FWA is Fixed Wireless Access that uses Vodacom’s 5G mobile network deliver internet to your home. That’s a lot of numbers and letters, but the big takeaway is that instead of using fibre or cables, Vodacom Home Internet connects via a SIM card in a router.
It’s super easy to install – and it gives you plug-and-play Internet with no need for technicians or trenching.
Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) is part of the Home Internet portfolio with the Vodacom’s household offerings. FWA is a data package that enables customers to have access to ‘fibre like’ data allocations and speeds (using the 5G network).
Fixed Wireless Access, is a type of broadband internet connection that uses Vodacom’s strong mobile network to transmit data between a fixed location, such as a building or home. This type of internet connection can provide high-speed internet access to areas where traditional wired broadband options are not available or cost-prohibitive to install.
We weren’t kidding when we called it “plug-and-play”. The router comes pre-configured and is delivered to your home, so you just need to plug it in and power it up, and it’ll be good to go!
Home Internet is designed for easy setup and use, you will just need to place the router in a good spot for signal. Placing it in an elevated, central location will help the signal spread out evenly throughout your home. Avoid placing it in cabinets or behind furniture - the less obstructions between your router and your nearest network tower, the better.

It all starts with research. First browse the home internet coverage map to check the signal offered in your area.
Next up, assess your home internet needs. How many people are living in your home and what do you need it for? Working from home, online school, gaming, streaming? Once that's done, you can start shopping for your ideal solution.

Once you’ve made your decision, you can either order online, or visit a Vodacom store, or call the Vodacom sales team on 082 17844. You’ll need your ID, proof of residence, and your banking details (top set up the debit order).
If you order online, the router will be delivered via courier (within a couple of working days). That router will be pre-configured, so – like we said at the start – you just need to plug it in, power it up, and start enjoying some super-fast Internet.

For security, remember to change the default admin password and update your WiFi credentials. For a permanent connection, consider investing in a WiFi extender in case there are dead zones in your home. Keeping a small UPS is also a good idea to keep the router running during load shedding.
Remember how we told you to check the map? That’s important, because coverage will tell you the type of signal that is available in your area. However the performance of that signal is affected by the capacity in your area. Capacity influences you how much bandwidth or data your network can handle which is impacted by various factors like your nearest network tower and the number of users in your area.
While you might have coverage in your area, the capacity in your area might affect the speed and performance of your home internet solution.
You can use the VodaPay App to track your usage and top up or manage your account.
