Review: Mobicel X1

Mobicel is more than just a cellphone company – it is a home-grown hero that has challenged the norm because it can.

With the latest devices from big name brands coming in at over R25,000, picking a new device that runs with the best of them can become a difficult, and expensive exercise. Thankfully though, South African smartphone manufacturer, Mobicel, is here to help.

As Mobicel themselves say:

‘Mobicel is more than just a cellphone company – it is a home-grown hero that has challenged the norm because it can. We are committed to developing devices that offer all the features you need, at an affordable price. This will allow for all South African’s to own a smartphone and be connected to the world of internet, apps and so much more”

Mobicel have created a range of cost effective devices that run the latest hardware while looking both stylish and sleek, ensuring you look and feel empowered.

Processor

 1.6GHZ Octa-core Processor

The X1 has a 5.99 inch HD Display with 720 x 1440 pixels resolution. The display uses 18:9 aspect ratio and doesn't have a notch cut out which are seen on a number of other devices. The screen size and ratio make it perfect for watching Netflix or Youtube, as well as providing crisp and clear images (provided your connection is strong enough).

Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.6Ghz Octa-core Processor which delivers fast device and app speeds. With 2GB Ram and 32GB internal storage, the X1 allows you to have enough apps and data on your device. Should you require more storage, no problem, simply insert and SD card.

The Mobicel X1 comes with a dual rear camera (13MP + 2MP) and LED flash. The front facing 5MP camera is used for FaceID, and of course, beautiful selfies.

The device fully supports 4G LTE and dual sim capability. This is supported by a long lasting 4000mAh battery and Android P out of the box.
