This past year has put humanity to the test, but it’s times like these when hidden heroes within communities step up and make a difference. Just like Mashilo Setshedi did for Phumlani Projects orphanage. His efforts inspired us to help the Soshanguve establishment #ShakeOff2020 and look towards the future in a positive light. Watch the video and see what happened when we arrived.
Sydney Mogau Lephalala, a man from Polokwane who is more than just a football coach, but a hidden hero to his team, Amalgamate FC. After a year of financial struggle through the Covid-19 pandemic, he stayed a source of inspiration and motivation to keep his boys on the pitch. Being such an amazing story, we wanted to meet him in person with this special surprise to help him #ShakeOff2020.
Not only did Lorraine Campher feel the difficulties presented by COVID-19, but so too did the learners at her educare centre. Since children are the future of our nation, it was important for us to provide a ray of hope to the Eesteriver community, helping them to #ShakeOff2020’s challenges and provide an uplifting spark for a brighter tomorrow.
Victors Not Victims is an organisation spearheaded by Constance Nyefolo, who provides counselling and healing to rape survivors. Although she has experienced a journey plagued by hardships due to the Coronavirus pandemic, this hidden hero can afford a smile after we stepped in to hand her a much-needed surprise to #ShakeOff2020
Through 2020, Umbali Ngcobo changed the lives of those around her with a self-funded pap smear initiative to help unemployed ladies and victims of #GenderBasedViolence to access to vital healthcare. In return, we helped this Hidden Hero to #ShakeOff2020 with a smile on her face and a tear or two.
*All covid-19 protocols were adhered to in filming this video
