What is a zero-rated site or app?

Vodacom has zero-rated select apps and websites for customers. Here’s what it means and how you can benefit from it.

Vodacom has zero-rated a bunch of apps on its network for customers, which means you will not be charged to access these services. It will neither come out of your airtime or data bundle nor do you need to have a positive balance; it works with zero airtime and data.

Here are three apps that Vodacom has zero-rated and how it benefits you as a customer.

VodaPay

The VodaPay super app is an all-in-one app that offers customers a range of services, payments, and rewards under one login and payment details. There are numerous brands that you can make use of in the VodaPay app, such as Exclusive Books, Netflorist, Makro, Game, KFC, Builders, Clicks, Webtickets, Hey Jude, Travelstart and more. This means you don’t need data to shop, and all your details are stored safely and securely. Payment options include scan-to-pay, using your wallet, bank card, VodaPay cashback or coupons. Everything you do on the app will earn you rewards, including inviting your friends to try it out

ConnectU

The ConnectU platform is invaluable to Vodacom customers because it provides access to essential services on the internet for free. This includes a range of life related services like the ability to find a job through access to select jobs sites; family care including tips for raising a family; the latest headlines; accessing Facebook Flex for free to keep in touch with family and friends; and safety and security with Secure Net and funeral cover. In addition to job sites, other service portals that are zero-rated include accessing bursaries, internships, and Yes4Youth; Wikipedia; and this very blog, Vodacom Now.

Vodacom eSchool

Another resource that is free to access is Vodacom e-School with free content to all learners. You can learn with video lessons for grade R-12 and your own pace; revise by doing homework, interactive quizzes, and testing your knowledge; and evaluate your progress, and earn badges and certificates. Grade R includes Life Skills, Literacy and Numeracy; and Grade 1-3 covers a first additional language, home language, like skills and mathematics. Grade 4-12 is more detailed for all covering 14 subjects, including languages, sciences, history, geography, and economics.

Remember to turn off WiFi to access all these services for free with an active Vodacom connection.
