Vodacom celebrates hat trick win as SA’s Top Employer

Copied!

Vodacom has done it yet again – they have been named South Africa’s Top Employer for 2026. This achievement marks the company’s third consecutive win for this award. In 2025, they net the titles for Top Employer Africa and Top Employer South Africa. Vodacom has always strived to create a world-class workplace culture, and this hattrick win reinforces the brand’s human-centric approach to leadership, talent, culture and employee experience.

Vodacom believes a happy workforce is a productive workforce and their secret is listening to their employees. While many companies do employee satisfaction surveys to tick a box, Vodacom heeds and realises the feedback through employee engagement initiatives and policies that enable work-life balance. This includes the Spirit Days which are focused on team building and employee wellbeing as well as an annual Hackathon that upskills employees while giving them the space and resources to share and test out their big ideas.

Employee mental health programme and support

Vodacom has a well-being programme and initiatives that allow them to partner with their people through the Wellbeing Ambassador programme. These ambassadors act as the first point of contact to assist with mental health support and referrals for serious issues. As a purpose-led organisation, they understand that education and awareness are important. Hence, they offer self-paced online mental health learning programmes, and policies that ensure people receive the right support when needed at the different stages of their lives.

 Access to primary healthcare nurses

Vodacom has a qualified primary healthcare nurse on-site at all offices. They can administer over-the-counter medication and perform health checks like blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol testing. They may also administer Vitamin B injections and perform emergency first aid when needed.

Vodacom also has programmes for employees who work outside of the office, offering a medical surveillance programme and providing annual medical checks for high-risk job profiles. This includes employees who work at heights, as well as drivers and call centre agents, among others.

Vodacom employees have access to several self-care services in various campuses.

Employees in the Midrand office can blow off steam or improve their physical wellbeing on the walking track, in the yoga studio or gym with access to personal trainers. This campus also offers additional medical services such as a chiropractor, physiotherapist, dentist and optometrist. They can also enjoy a salon staffed with beauticians, hair stylists, and nail technicians.
