How do you sign up for VodaSure Funeral Cover?

  • Via USSD: Dial *123#, then navigate to ‘Register for Free Funeral Cover’. Follow the prompts to complete your registration.
  • Via the VodaPay App: Open the VodaPay App, navigate to ‘Discover on VodaPay,’ select ‘FREE Funeral Cover,’ and follow the steps on how to ‘Get started.’

What do you need to qualify?

Joining VodaSure’s Spend and Get Funeral Cover is simple. To qualify, you must:

  • Be between the ages of 18 and 60
  • Be a South African citizen or permanent resident
  • Spend a minimum of R120 per month on Vodacom airtime or data bundles

Is there a waiting period?

Yes and no, it depends on the type of claim.

For accidental death, cover begins from the first day of the following month after registration, provided your R120 spend requirement has been met.

For natural death, there is a three-month waiting period from your policy start date. So if you sign up on 2 June, natural death claims will only become valid from 2 September.

What happens if you spend less than R120?

Life happens and sometimes you might not be able to spend R120 on recharges. If you do not meet the minimum spend requirement of R120 for one month, you will still be covered for that month under a 30-day grace period. If you spend less that R120 on recharges for a second consecutive month, then your complimentary cover will lapse and will be reset to R0.
