Is there fibre at my new address? How to check and get connected

Copied!

On the move again? Great – you’ve signed the lease and started clearing the clutter from the garage, but don’t forget your Vodacom Fibre service will need to move too.

Relocating your Vodacom Fibre connection can be simple, but you first need to check fibre coverage ahead of time and decide which Vodacom Fibre package best suits your needs.

How do I check fibre coverage at my new home?

It’s easy – just use our online coverage checker tool and enter your new address. The tool shows you whether Vodacom Fibre is available, coming soon, or not available. Alternatively, you can call Customer Care on 082 1904

Fibre is available in most urban and suburban areas but because the cables need to run directly to your property, availability can vary from one street to the next.

What do I do next to stay connected?

Call Vodacom Fibre on 082 1904 one calendar month before moving to make a relocation request.

To deactivate your old service, call Vodacom Fibre on 082 1904. You can also submit the request via the VodaPay App. Vodacom will schedule a deactivation date for your current line and you can schedule a new installation.

Will I have connectivity while I wait for my installation?

Installation usually takes 5 to 15 days from the date of your request. If you work or study at home, it might be worth investing in a pocket router in the meantime and recharging with data bundles. Vodacom offers daily and weekly bundles which could help fill the gap.

What is a broadband speed tier?

Vodacom Fibre offers a range of home and business internet packages with different speed tiers.

A speed tier is simply the maximum internet speed your connection can deliver, measured in Mbps (Megabits per second).

The higher the speed, the better your connection can handle streaming, gaming, video calls and multiple users online at once.

Which Vodacom package do I need?

The broadband speed that’s right for you can change over time, especially as your household’s needs evolve. Maybe you’ve taken on a few extra housemates, started a home business, or have kids who are spending more time gaming online. Whatever the reason, it’s worth checking whether your current Vodacom Fibre plan still meets your needs here.

  • Entry level: 25 Mbps to 30 Mbps – ideal for 1-3 basic users.
  • Standard: 40 Mbps to 50 Mbps – perfect for streaming and working from home.
  • Fast: 100 Mbps to 200 Mbps – a good fit for most families. Supports multiple connected devices, 4K streaming, and online gaming.
  • Ultra-fast: 500 Mbps to 1 000 Mbps – suits heavy data users, 4+ family members using at once, large files, and smart homes.

What if there’s no fibre at my new address?

Call Vodacom Fibre on 082 1904 and ask what Home Internet LTE or 5G options are available at your address. New home, same need for fast and reliable internet. Whether you’re still finding your feet or putting down roots, Vodacom Fibre makes it easy to stay connected wherever life takes you.
