5 Reasons to buy the OPPO Reno5

Here are our top 5 reasons to pay attention to the Reno5.

OPPO entered the South African market last year with three mid-range and entry-level handsets. It has now released a high-end device, the OPPO Reno5 5G available on Vodacom.

Here are our top 5 reasons to pay attention to the Reno5:

Processing power

The Reno5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G octa-core 2.4GHz processor with an integrated 5G modem. It is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The device is 5G enabled and ready to use on Vodacom’s expanding coverage around the country. If you’re planning to keep your phone for at least two years, a 5G handset in 2021 is the way to go.

The Reno5 been working a treat so far while using multiple apps, streaming services and of course, the camera.

Smooth scrolling screen

The Reno5 has a large 6.43-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz screen refresh rate to support smooth scrolling and gaming. You can auto-switch between light and dark modes and choose 60Hz or 90Hz, however, the latter is dependent on app support. It has a 91.7% screen ratio and a 2400x1080p resolution.

There is a lot of customisation options. These include auto-adapt font sizes, vivid or gentle colour modes, or front camera display and full-screen display by app, allowing the camera cut out to be visible or not.

Quad cameras

It boasts a 64MP quad-camera set-up, supported by an 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro and 2MP mono camera. It has an amazing 32MP selfie-cam with an 85° field of view for wider shots. It also supports a dual-view video mode with three ways to shoot that is great for content creators or budding videographers.

Other features include night mode, film, pro, and built-in video templates from its Soloop app. I loved taking landscape, food pics and selfies with HDR on; and a dedicated macro mode always brings out the creativity.

Superfast charging

The Reno5 has a unique feature that will charge the phone from 0-100% in just 36 minutes; one of the first phones to charge this quickly and safely. It uses OPPO’s unique Super-Vooc 2.0 technology with a 65W plug, included in the box. Forgot to charge your phone overnight? No problem: a quick 5-minute charge will provide four hours of power. A highly under-rated feature.

Android 11 and ColorOS 11

The Reno5 is powered by Android 11, with OPPO’s ColorOS 11.1 overlay. It runs on Google Mobile Services with full access to the Play Store and Google Suite of apps such as YouTube, Chrome, Maps, Google One, Assistant, etc.

ColorOS brings features like FlexDrop to make apps float so you can have a quick glance while using other apps; a dedicated gamer mode that will block out calls and push notifications; and a customisable always-on display.

The OPPO Reno5 5G is available in a stunning galactic silver shade, and starry black, and comes bundled with the W11 TWS earbuds on Vodacom starting at R499/pm or R14 299 on pre-paid.
