It’s hard to believe but Nokia has finally made its first ever tablet, available this month on the Vodacom network. Nokia says it’s designed for work, learn and play.
Key features
You get a 2K display, long-lasting battery life and the same premium build we’ve seen on Nokia’s vanilla Android handsets. It also comes with the promise of two years of operating system upgrades and three years of security updates.
The new T-Series has a clean design with a solid metal body structure and a polished 3D display that is 400 nits in brightness.
It weighs 470g and measures 10.4 inches across the diagonal. It has an aspect ratio of 5:3 and screen resolution of 2000x1200 pixels. There is a power button on the top, volume rocker on the right, and a SIM/micro-SD card slot further down.
The T-10 is powered by a Unisoc T610 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB). It sports a 5MP front selfie-cam and an 8MP rear auto-focus camera with LED flash.
Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0, dual band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), USB-C and GPS through its LTE SIM slot. It has a 3.5mm audio jack and an 8200mAh battery.
Stereo speakers, FM radio, Nokia’s OZO audio for capture and playback, and face unlocking are also drawcards, in addition to dual microphones that, make it suitable for webinars or video calls with friends and family.
Its octa-core chipset promises a faster, more reliable experience when you’re multi-tasking, gaming, or need the extra power.
The Nokia T20 tablet is an Android Enterprise Recommended device by Google, which means it makes a shortlist of devices that meet the company’s strict enterprise requirements from a hardware and software perspective. This makes it ideal for businesses looking for an affordable, solid Android tablet.
The T20 is a great business tablet, but it also comes with Google Kids Space; a trusted mode for children to explore apps, books and videos without parents worrying about age-inappropriate content. Kids Space works with a Gmail account and Google’s Family Link for full parental control.
The 8200mAh battery promises 15 hours of web surfing, seven hours of video calls or 10 hours of watching movies. A fast-charging plug (15W) is included in the box. Nokia says it’s also low blue light certified, so it’s easier on the eyes for lengthy usages.
Spotify will come preloaded on the tablet, with access to more than 70 million tracks and 2.9 million podcasts. For additional control over privacy, a 30-day free trial is available with the ExpressVPN app. This keeps your connection encrypted and secure when using public Wi-Fi.
The Nokia T20 tablet is available in a deep ocean blue from Vodacom at either R279/pm for 24 months or R3999 once-off. Link to purchase here.
