Emirates flies to 141 destinations in 75 countries across six continents. Here are the top destinations chosen by South Africans.

1. Dubai

Dubai is one of the world's great hubs - the stepping stone to just about any place on Earth via Emirates' incredible destination network, it's also an awesome holiday spot all its own. It's famous for its shopping and glamorous lifestyle, and boasts plenty of sun and sand - both beach and desert. Stand on top of the world on the observation deck on level 148 of the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, or spend your budget at Dubai Mall, the world's largest shopping centre. Families will love the many water and amusement parks and thrilling 4x4 rides in the desert. You'll never run out of things to do in Dubai!

2. New York

It's the city that never sleeps, the Big Apple, the one place everyone wants to tick off their bucket list. Most of New York's many attractions are concentrated on the island of Manhattan. It's a whole world in a single city - fill up on incredible pasta in Little Italy, or trawl the tiny shops in Chinatown for souvenirs. Gawk at the beautiful people on Fifth Avenue, or contemplate the incredible exhibits at one of the city's world-leading museums. When you need a break, grab a hot dog from one of the legendary hot dog stands and enjoy it in the relative peace and quiet of Central Park. This is the city that never sleeps, so when the sun goes down, take in the lights of Times Square and watch the stars come out on the Broadway stage.

3. Singapore

Dubbed the Lion City, Singapore is the gateway to the excitement of the East. It's a melting pot of Indian, Chinese, Malaysian and western cultures, meaning you can find just about any cuisine that tickles your fancy. Fill your tummy for just a few dollars at one of the many Hawker Centres, down-to-earth food courts with many different stalls serving delicious meals. For a more refined experience, sip a Singapore Sling cocktail at Raffles Hotel. If you have kids, they're sure to love Singapore Zoo and its nocturnal counterpart, the Night Safari. Go for a wander in Gardens by the Bay or the Singapore Botanical Gardens, or get your blood racing at Universal Studios or the many attractions of Sentosa Island.

4. Delhi

Flying Emirates is the best way to get to India, and Delhi is your ideal jump-off point for a truly memorable holiday. It's a city where old and new mix, with a variety of things to see and experience. Visit the incredible Red Fort, and stroll in the Mughal Gardens surrounding Humayun's Tomb. Sip a G&T amid the colonial splendour of the Imperial Hotel, then fill up on some of Delhi's incredible street food.
